Racing Games: How to Corner Cleanly and Improve Your Lap Times
Practical habits that help in almost every browser racing game, from circuit racing to endless driving.

Slow in, fast out
The most common beginner mistake is entering a corner too fast. A car that is still braking in the middle of a corner loses grip and speed. Brake before the corner, turn smoothly, and accelerate once the car is pointing along the exit. This habit alone improves most lap times.
Look further ahead
Most players look at the car directly in front of them. Looking further down the track gives you more time to react. In endless driving games, scanning the road ahead helps you pick gaps before you need them.
Use small steering inputs
Large steering movements unsettle the car and leave you with no room to correct. Think of steering as a series of small adjustments, especially at high speed. In games with touch or tilt controls, this is even more important.
Practise one section at a time
If the game shows sector times, as Apex Racer does, work on your slowest sector first. Improving one section is easier than improving the whole lap, and the gain is easy to see.
Stay consistent before you go faster
A slower, clean lap usually beats a risky fast one that ends in a crash. Build consistency first and add speed once the corners feel familiar.
Overtaking and traffic
When other cars share the track, overtake on straights where there is space, not in the middle of a corner. Staying behind a slower car for one corner can set you up for a cleaner overtake on the next straight.
Choosing the right vehicle
If a game lets you pick a vehicle, test a few. A heavier vehicle is more stable but slower to turn, while a lighter one reacts faster and is easier to unsettle. Choose the one that matches how smoothly you can steer.
Controls on different devices
Keyboard steering is digital: you are either turning or not. Touch and tilt controls are more analogue, so smaller movements work better. If you feel the car is twitchy, reduce the size of your inputs rather than the speed.
