1. Include Vegetables and Fruits in the Diet
Include lots of fruits and vegetables in your fasting diet and avoid consuming fried snacks. Fruits and vegetables are rich in nutrients, which provide energy to your body and help keep you energized for a longer period of time. These are fillings and help prevent you from overeating. If you want, you can consume fruit chat, salad or soup etc.
2. Stay Hydrated
It is important that you keep yourself hydrated while fasting as dehydration can lead to fatiguing and can make you feel dizzy. Even though you can reduce your food during fasting but do not let yourself get dehydrated. Always keep a water bottle with you and keep drinking water in small amounts. Apart from water, milk, vegetable or fruit juices are other ways by which you can keep yourself hydrated.
3. Stop yourself from Starving
Do not fast for a long time or keep eating small amounts during fasting. Staying hungry for a long time can cause weakness, anemia, fatigue or headache etc. Because of this, you should keep eating things like nuts, makhana etc.
4. Have a Good Sleep
When you are fasting, it is important that you sleep well so that you do not have a headache. Make sure that you sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours every night.
5. Avoid Eating Too Much
Even if you are eating fast food, do not eat too much. Divide your meals into small portions and eat it 5 to 6 times. In this way, your body will continue to get the necessary supply and your energy will also be maintained.
6. Maintain your Energy Level
You may feel low energy during Navratri fasting. Because of this it is important that you eat the right things and keep drinking water from time to time. Eat food that has high amount of protein and carbs to keep your energy level up.
7. Plan your Meals
Sudden changes in your diet have negative effects on your body and mind, and for this reason it is important that you plan your meals well in advance.
