Sherni movie review: The Sherni has neither become a documentary nor a feature film, so it was neither here nor there. Neither the film is such that it adds to the knowledge about the forest, hunting, the working style of the forest department, the villagers and the animals living in the forest, nor is it a film that entertains. In such a situation, nothing is achieved in the film except boredom. Surprisingly, it has been directed by Amit V. Masurkar, who has a fine film named Newton in front of his name.
The story is of Vidya Vincent (Vidya Balan) who has been appointed as a DFO in the jungles of Madhya Pradesh. Vidya wants to do her work honestly, but corrupt officials and politicians stand in her way. She wants to catch a man-eating Sherni alive, but by killing that Sherni, some people want to serve their selfish interests.

The opening hour of the film is documentary and full of boredom. The speed is so slow that you can even fall asleep. After this, elements like feature films have been inserted in it. A villainous hunter is shown, the colors of politics are shown, there are two lines on environment and development, young Vidya is under pressure to raise the family of mother and mother-in-law and wear jewelry, but all these things are so superficial that all the scenes become flat.

Amit V. Masurkar has tried to raise some issues like where villagers take their cattle for grazing, how politicians lure the forest dwellers for their selfish interests, a lady officer faces difficulties while working But all these issues have proved to be false. Nothing that is new or strongly picked up.
The script of the film is written in such a way that nothing comes to the fore. Neither through dialogues nor through events. The characters of Neeraj Kabi and Sharat Saxena are also not written properly. Sometimes they change their color.
Amit V. Masurkar disappoints as a director. He didn’t have the kind of story and that’s why his presentation didn’t make any impact. The whole film seems to be scattered. Technically also the film could not impress.
The flat story and weak direction have also affected the performance of the actors. Vidya Balan is a great actress, but in ‘Sherni’ she looked extinguished and stretched. Couldn’t even reach his level. Vrajendra Kala is acting like one. Neeraj Kabi remained pale. The performance of Vijay Raj and Sharat Saxena was better than average.
