Know the Right Way to Soak lentils:
Step 1: Collect the dal in a bowl and wash it with water.
Step 2: Change the water 3 to 4 times till the water becomes clear and wash the dal by gently rubbing it with your fingers and palms to remove all the dirt.
Step 3: Now fill them with fresh drinking water and cover them.
Step 4: Leave them to soak for at least 1 hour and maximum for 5-6 hours. The rule of Ayurveda says that it has to be soaked overnight.
Step 5: Drain the water before cooking and cook with fresh water.
Step 6: Do not forget to remove the scum that forms on boiling.
